Steady progress on Nexans Aurora

12 February 2021: During the past few days of the shipbuilding project of the CLV Nexans Aurora, the outer part of the carousel has been mounted. Currently we are installing the fairings.

The Cable Laying Vessel Nexans Aurora has large dimensions, and people appear small next to the large bits and pieces which are being mounted and installed all over the vessel. The newbuild is under construction at Ulstein Verft, and there are people working all around the vessel to make her ready for sea trials later on.

This week we worked to complete the outer part of the carousel, and the first set of fairings has been installed. In the days ahead we will continue to install the next three sets.

The 'Nexans Aurora' is due for delivery to Nexans this year, and her first assignment will be in the offshore wind segment.

Shipyard collaboration on standard auxiliary ships for the Norwegian Navy

The Royal Norwegian Navy has an ambition to acquire series‑produced, standardised naval vessels. This requires ships that are versatile, robust and future‑oriented, yet cost‑effective to build. Few shipyards in Norway can meet this challenge. Together, Larsnes Mek. Verksted (Larsnes) and Ulstein Group (Ulstein) have extensive experience and strong references in the design, construction, and maintenance of vessels. They collaborate to offer a solution that ensures the efficient production of naval ships.
