ULSTEIN THOR: Awarded Concept Vessel Design of the Year
On 20 June 2023, at the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe in Amsterdam, ULSTEIN THOR was announced as the winner of the Concept Vessel Design of the Year Award.

On 20 June 2023, at the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe in Amsterdam, ULSTEIN THOR was announced as the winner of the Concept Vessel Design of the Year Award.
On 20 October 2022, Ulstein was appointed 'The Industrial Design Company of the Year Award.' The jury stated Ulstein has ‘design as a part of its DNA. The world is facing enormous challenges, and the company is working to solve these challenges by thinking differently, and working across disciplines and industries.'
The factory trawler ECOFIVE will provide a far lower environmental footprint, higher fishing quality and a safer working environment. ECOFIVE was announced as the winner of the Innovation Award at the opening ceremony of Nor-Fishing on 23 August.
Ulstein has been appointed 'Best Industrial Design Company 2019'. Jury statement: A venturous company with solid experience that holds a strong IPR strategy. They are flexible, having moved from oil to offshore wind and sustainable solutions. Their characteristic design is the ocean's answer to the iconic Coke bottle.
At the opening ceremony of the Nor-Shipping exhibition, the ‘Color Hybrid’ plug-in hybrid vessel was announced the winner of the 'Next Generation Ship Award'. The vessel has been designed by Fosen Yard and is being constructed by Ulstein Verft for the ship owner Color Line.
When the newspaper Aftenposten asked the Norwegian people to name the most important Norwegian innovations through time, they voted the cheese slicer as #3, the X-BOW hull line design as #2, and the Tripp Trapp high chair as #1. While numbers 1 and 3 are household items, the X-BOW is a pure industrial design.
The X-STERN® solution was awarded the Next Generation Ship Award at the Nor-Shipping opening conference. Innovative ship design is the main criteria in the awarding of this Prize.
With the X-BOW®, Ulstein Group won the award for the most innovative product at ShipTek2010 in Dubai.
After the launch of the ULSTEIN X-BOW® concept in 2005, the bow has received, or been nominated for, a number of Innovation Awards. The first was the Norwegian Engineering Feat of the Year from the magazine “Teknisk Ukeblad” in 2005.
On 6 June 2023, Bluewild, Ulstein Design & Solutions AS and Westcon were awarded 'Ship of the Year 2023' for the factory trawler ECOFIVE. The jury states that the ship solution offers ground-breaking technology with several innovations for a greener fishing fleet.
The world’s largest plug-in hybrid vessel, Color Hybrid, has been appointed ‘Ship of the Year 2019’. Ulstein Group CEO Gunvor Ulstein received the Award from HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway at the Nor-Shipping exhibition on 4 June 2019.
The Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) vessel ‘Seven Viking’, designed and built by ULSTEIN, was announced ‘Ship of the Year 2013’ by the maritime magazine ‘Skipsrevyen’ at Nor-Shipping.
Island Constructor won Offshore Support Journal’s prestigious 2008 ‘Ship of the Year’ award. The vessel is suited for both well intervention and construction work.
Normand Seven, built at Ulstein Verft AS has been named “Ship of the Year 2007”. The vessel was the largest offshore vessel ever delivered from Ulstein Verft at the time.
Bourbon Orca, an ULSTEIN AX104 designed and built by the Ulstein Group, has been named “Ship of the Year 2006”.
Together with EGGS Design, Ulstein won the DOGA Award for Ulstein’s Marine Automation Systems, currently ULSTEIN IAS and ULSTEIN AMS, based on the X-CONNECT® architecture.
Siemens Wind Power, BS Offshore and Ulstein have received the OSJ Offshore Renewables Award 2017 for the SOV vessel 'Windea La Cour'.
The ship was the winner of the OSJ Offshore Renewables Award 2014. This Prize is awarded to a company, project or product that has made a significant contribution to the development of the offshore renewables market.
The hybrid solution in ‘Olympic Hera’ and ‘Olympic Zeus’ was nominated for the Green Ship Technology Award 2011.
