Aurora Expeditions: Redefining small-ship exploration with X-BOW® designs
Aurora Expeditions welcomed its third X-BOW cruise vessel, Douglas Mawson, in September 2025. “Many of our guests have travelled on other expedition ships before and immediately notice the difference. Whether it’s sleeping better at night, feeling less vibration during lectures, or spending more time in observation areas, the design truly enhances the experience,” says Katie Malone, Chief Marketing Officer at Aurora Expeditions, when commenting on the X-BOW design feature.
Ulstein Group awarded IDC’s ‘Teamwork of the Year 2025’
Ulstein Group received the 'Teamwork of the Year 2025 Award' at the IDC conference in Ålesund on 16 October 2025. The jury stated that: "Ulstein Group has built a culture where all disciplines are equally valued. Efficient mobilisation at short notice: Edda Freya at Ulstein Verft
In October 2025, Edda Freya called at Ulstein Verft for a mobilisation on very short notice. In addition to several minor tasks, the vessel's crane, weighing 350 tonnes, needed to be relocated.

Mastering walk-to-work operations
The total number of walk-to-work (w2w) vessel designs and redesigns by Ulstein now counts 22, of which 16 are currently in operation. On average, these vessels perform repair and maintenance on more than 5,000 turbines every year! That makes a stunning 95,000+ gangway connections!
Douglas Mawson delivered: Seventh Infinity-class expedition ship sets sail
With the delivery of Douglas Mawson on 9 September 2025, the seventh vessel in the Infinity class for SunStone Ships, the proven ULSTEIN CX103 platform continues to demonstrate its strength. Built at the CMHI shipyard and chartered to Aurora Expeditions, the vessel is now ready to explore polar regions, remote coastlines, and global destinations.
WINDEA Clausius delivered – BS Offshore receives second TWIN X-STERN CSOV from Ulstein
5 September 2025 – Bernhard Schulte Offshore (BS Offshore) has taken delivery of its latest state-of-the-art Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV), WINDEA Clausius, yard number 321, from Ulstein Verft.
Frigate decision
The Norwegian government has announced its decision to purchase British frigates. Ulstein has collaborated with the Germany-based TKMS in an effort to secure the contracts.
