Vyacheslav Tikhonov

Vyacheslav Tikhonov (former: Polarcus Selma) is an 8-streamer, arctic capable 3D seismic research vessel of the ULSTEIN SX133 design. It can deploy eight streamers each of 6,000 metres length, or six streamers each of 8,000 metres length.

Ship history

Polarcus signed a five year Bareboat Charter Party Agreement with Russian OAO Sovcomflot (SCF) for 'Vyacheslav Tikhonov', and the vessel was officially named 'Vyacheslav Tikhonov' in a naming ceremony in Sochi, Russia on 16 September 2011. 
The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has assumed the role of Guardian to the seismic vessel. The vessel is named after a famous Soviet/Russian actor (1928-2009), who received numerous state awards.

Milestones

June 2019:

Sovcomflot has exercised an option to extend the Bareboat Charter period of hire for two years, until October 2021, with further options.
